Overview

We partnered with Red Bull to engage Gen Z soccer fans by blending real-world athleticism with digital brand engagement. To do this, we created an augmented reality soccer game featuring Red Bull athlete and professional soccer player Trinity Rodman. By harnessing Trinity’s athletic prowess and charisma, we built a WebAR game that challenged users to "Score Like Trinity," using augmented reality. Players could transform their surroundings into a soccer field and practice their shots on goal as Trinity helped coach them through multiple challenges, reacting in real time to players’ performance. Following the game, players could submit their score for a chance to meet Trinity.

Transform Your World To Score Like Trinity

This augmented reality experience lets users step onto a virtual soccer field with Trinity Rodman to compete in increasingly challenging target-based games. The game combines real-world soccer and AR technology, offering coaching from Trinity while testing players' speed and accuracy. Users can enjoy the action anywhere, blending real world soccer with digital gameplay on their mobile devices.

Integrating Real-Life Motion Capture

To embody the idea that Trinity was players’ personal coach, we utilized green-screen video to record Trinity herself providing advice to players. We recorded a series of tips and encouragements to allow Trinity to provide advice based on how the player was doing during the game. 

Miss a shot? Trinity encourages players not to give up and gives them tips to correct their form. On a roll? Trinity celebrates with her signature dance moves. Integrating Trinity into the game using green-screen capture offered players a realistic and authentic training session with a soccer pro.

Creative Conceptualization and Game Design

We designed a seamless blend of real soccer training and AR engagement, crafting a unique gameplay loop centered around Trinity Rodman's coaching and dynamic soccer challenges.

Immersive AR Gameplay

Users are fully immersed in an AR experience where they must hit targets on a virtual field. The difficulty increases as the game progresses, challenging both speed and precision.

Real-Life Motion Capture Integration

Trinity Rodman’s real-life movements were captured and replicated in the game. This integration offered users a realistic and authentic training session with the soccer pro.

Gamified Call to Action

Players were encouraged to submit their scores to win a chance to meet Trinity Rodman. Additionally a leaderboard encouraged players to play again and again.

Results

This project successfully combined sports and technology, engaging Red Bull’s target audience through an interactive AR experience that transcended traditional digital marketing. The partnership with Trinity Rodman and the use of motion capture added authenticity and credibility, while the gamified structure kept players coming back for more. Players averaged over 2 minutes of engagement with the experience, with a 8% sweepstakes submission rate.
