The New York Lottery tech ecosystem supports millions of transactions, ticket scans, draw checks and retail locations. We rearchitected the cloud infrastructure and APIs supporting the lottery from a split Java and PHP service layer to a set of scalable Node.js Lambdas. This makes sure the Lottery is always ready to support players, even when the jackpot is $2bn.
