Overview

MARTIN was one of the most iconic sitcoms of the 90s. In 2022, the cast reunited for a special streaming on BET+. ROSE partnered with BET+ to create an in-person experience to promote MARTIN: The Reunion. In the MARTIN Reunion Immersive Experience, users were able to step into the series with friends by re-creating the show’s iconic title sequence. They could bust a move or strike a pose in front of a green screen and then be placed into the intro sequence. The experience featured the iconic Martin font, changing background colors, and of course, music and dancing.

MARTIN Reunion Immersive Experience

This activation took place at The House of BET, a BET awards event. At the event, this activation space paired up with a recreation of the MARTIN living room. The MARTIN Reunion Immersive Experience brought users into the MARTIN show title sequence. Next to the living room set, users could step into the green screen booth solo or with friends and record a custom MARTIN style title sequence, complete with their own name(s) and likeness.

The first step in creating an amazing intro? A star-studded cast. Users can star solo or build a cast of up to 4 friends. Each cast member then enters their name for it to appear during their debut.

How The Martin Activation Works

A sitcom intro sequence from the 90s might appear simplistic and dated to today's viewers. As simple as whipping up such a sequence by hand may be, automating a "smart" process to create customized versions of such a thing on demand still presents an interesting challenge.

There are quite a few steps involved: creating an app that captures footage from the device it runs on, removing the background from the footage, slicing the footage up into sections, overlaying individualized text and other graphic design items, applying music, rendering the completed video, and finally sending the whole thing back out to the user–fast. Using the MARTIN Reunion Immersive Experience, fans easily recorded their own MARTIN show intro with their friends and got it sent straight to their mobile device.
