Overview

As the fashion world had to adapt and move to a purely digital landscape due to COVID-19, brands had to move quickly to break through all of the noise. We brought KHAITE’s latest collections into the homes of its customers using augmented reality. To ensure widespread accessibility and to take the burden of accessing the experience off of consumers, ROSE built two WebAR experiences that are deeply interactive, highlighting the unique details of KHAITE’s footwear and clothing designs in a way that offers endless creative freedom for the user.

Khaite Spring/Summer 2021

KHAITE shipped lookbooks that had QR codes embedded within the experience, made by Chandelier Creative, that when scanned take you to KHAITE’s augmented reality fashion experience where users can see the shoes at scale in their own homes. This allowed customers to get a feel for the items without being able to see them in person. This experience allowed KHAITE to create a visual experience that otherwise would only exist inside one of their showrooms.

Tap To Place

Users can choose from a selection of shoes to inspect, and tap to place it on a flat surface to be able to see it from every angle.

Scan To Place

Integrated into the experience is a catalog that can be scanned at any time to inspect different designs. The book was interactive and didn’t require QR codes, just simply pointing the camera at the book and the experience opens.

Rotate, Move, Inspect

In order to get a full visual of all the designs, users could view them from any angle and vantage point due to the 360-degree rendering.

Khaite Pre-Fall 2021

In the second iteration of KHAITE’s augmented reality fashion experience, for KHAITE’s pre-fall 2021 collection, ROSE expanded the experience to include models rendered in augmented reality, allowing for users to be able to see the clothing in the way it was meant to be seen. This second experience allows users to place the models wearing the new line in the environment they choose as the models move to demonstrate the physical properties of each item. Ultimately resulting in users experiencing an augmented reality fashion show.

Capturing the Looks

Using 3D scanning and green screen video allowed us to recreate the shoes with precision accuracy and capture the movement of the clothing on the models.

The real takeaway is seeing these clothes in your own lived space: Instead of imagining how a puffed-sleeve bustier and wide-leg khakis might translate to your life, seeing Pavlova in the look—next to your couch, your houseplants, your mess—offers an immediate preview…it’s a lot more convincing than a runway photo or high-concept look book.

Fashion And Augmented Reality

As the fashion world grapples with how to convert sales and stay afloat amid the pandemic, finding ways to integrate experiences with seamless shopping capabilities is now the only viable option. Within this experience, the sales were proof enough that this execution works for high-fashion labels. Fashion is a tactile and textured experience, and amid social distancing brands have hurdles to jump to create moving experiences for consumers. AR allows for the color, texture, and life of garments to come to life.
